The small town of Cinderwich has a secret. Many years ago, a dead woman was found in a tree. Although there was no noose to suggest a hanging; it seemed like she was just placed there. And, if the recurring, mysterious graffiti is to be believed, the woman was called Ellen.

This incident sparks the interest of Judith Kane, whose partner Ellen disappeared decades ago. Judith proposes a Cinderwich roadtrip to Kate, Ellen’s niece and Judith’s former student. Together, they explore the town and its cagey residents. Kate believes she sees ghosts, and receives strange notes. The residents of Cinderwich are hiding something, and Judith and Kate are determined to find out what it is.

Cinderwich is a pretty short, fun read. I loved the many (ignored) warnings that Judith and Kate received from residents, especially after reading then ending. No spoilers, but this book takes an unexpected and hugely enjoyable turn.

There were a lot of red herrings, and unresolved mysteries, but I felt that made the book even more authentic. To have everything wrapped up nicely would have made this book predictable and bland, which it certainly was not.

Cinderwich is out now! Please order directly from the publisher if you’re able.
